1 to 1 Support – TAG@Home

What do we offer?

This free service offers 1:1 support to parents and carers of children from pre-school to young adults up to the age of 25 who have either been referred for an autism assessment, or already have a diagnosis.

Our autism trained team members are friendly, professional and easy to talk to. We work across the Boroughs of Windsor and Maidenhead, Slough and Bracknell as part of our service provision for GEMS, East Berkshire Autism and ADHD Support Services.

We aim to give you the information you need, along with practical tried and tested strategies, to help you to support a family member on the spectrum with greater confidence.

How can I access the service?

To find out more contact GEMS, East Berkshire ADHD and Autism Services on 01753 373 244/ 0800 999 1342 or email gems.4health@nhs.net

What is in included in the service?

An initial phone call or email is followed by a conversation with a qualified autism professional who is also a parent of someone on the autistic spectrum. We can arrange this either as a face to face visit of up to 1.5 hours in your home, or as a virtual session or call, to suit your individual needs.

The first visit is to listen to your areas of concern and respond with suggestions for tried and tested strategies aimed at greater understanding and more effective communication, which may help to improve behaviour and sense of well-being. A follow up call, lasting up to 1.5 hours, 6 – 8 weeks later provides an opportunity to discuss, reflect and assess the effectiveness of suggested approaches and share information about useful sources of support.
